We all know mornings can be just plain chaotic when kids are involved. Sometimes getting out the door causes deep breathing and intense sweating — with an occasional yell here or there to “GET THOSE SHOES ON!” To quell the storms that rise among us, I started helping my kids help themselves (and my sanity) by following this checklist.
It helps to guide them through the steps and keeps my mind focused on the 738 other things I need to accomplish in order to get out the door. This checklist also provides a handy visual for Moms and Dads to see how far down the list we are in progress, and how to keep everyone on track.
Another hint that I do personally is I set timers on my phone before we need to leave and then I inform loudly throughout the house “30 minute warning!”, “15 minute warning!”, “5 minute warning!”, then “GET IN THE CAR NOW!” Strangely, it does help as it gives them a sense of time as it counts us all down to go time.
