Description
Has the Bible ever seemed overwhelming to you, maybe you grabbed a devotional instead? I have, too… attempting to read the whole thing was downright intimidating; I continually grabbed other books that I imagined were easier to read and did the work for me to describe the Bible. While not discrediting the beneficial help these can and do provide, I believe our focus should first be on reading what we intend to study first. (If you skip out on classes but grab cliff notes from a classmate, how do you know they are an accurate breakdown of the information presented? Is your theological viewpoint correct, can you have confidence in this if you have not read the whole book?) The Family Bible Plan is the guide for you!
This devotional series was designed to guide you (and your family) through the Bible, focusing on one chapter at a time. Breaking down the Bible into 6-month sessions provides you with a manageable goal to fit into your schedule (7 books total).
Lasting benefit likely does not happen if you rush through the Bible, skim the words, and cross it off your to-do list without taking it to heart. Rather, spend the time to seek the Lord as you read each chapter. The Family Bible Plan was designed for you to read one chapter a day and focus on it by considering a specific point or answering questions intended for you to think about the characters and the situations mentioned.
Also included is an overview to wrap up that week’s reading, further encouraging a deeper, exegetical study of the Bible. God wants us to seek Him, the Bible says He honors those requests… and that is why this devotion was created, to be used as a tool for you to seek Him more through His gift to us, the Bible!
