You Need to Choose Your Life Path: Wayward or Straight?
Has there been a season in your life in which you walked along a wayward path? For me, it was at a time when I professed with my mouth that I was a follower of Christ; my actions, choices, thoughts, and life did not align with my verbiage. The wayward path was the path I chose to follow at that time. I had concocted an idol of how and where I wanted God to fit into my life and cut Him out of all other areas so I could live how I pleased. It was very self-serving, following closely along to the lukewarm the Bible warns about. I knew of God, but I didn’t know God.

Wisdom will guide your path…
Proverbs reflects on the contrasting blameless and wayward paths (in essence) around 86 times. True Biblical and Godly wisdom, or the lack thereof, will guide you down one or the other.
Wisdom isn’t the end all, be all, though. Meaning, wisdom itself is not our saving grace, it is a gift to those with humility. As in, a humble spirit will be able to accept it as a gift from God and let it truly transform their life. In all, our sense of self HAS to be seen in a lower position than a ‘god’ that will fit and hide seamlessly into our sin-filled lives, only coming out of the shadows when we deem it appropriate.
Seek it out…
Praying for wisdom is a blessed start, and ought to be a part of our daily lives:
This is not a passive faith we enter into; it is active and alive, bursting with fullness and life. God honors heartfelt requests for wisdom when humble hearts truly seek Him. Share on XMy son, if you receive My words and treasure up My commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding….
Proverbs 2:1-6a, emphasis added
This is not a passive faith we enter into; it is active and alive, bursting with fullness and life. God honors heartfelt requests for wisdom when humble hearts truly seek Him.
It’s important to realize, our active searching for wisdom will reveal for us the paths we are to take in life. Our old paths, the wayward paths, will be revealed for what they were. They will serve to help us understand why we ought to look Heavenward as we traverse the tumultuous terrain that most dare not tread.
What we thought was an easy nature trail, was really our apathetic approach to the Christian walk. Share on XWhat we thought was an easy nature trail, was really our apathetic approach to the Christian walk.
A motto that should hold fast to every area in our lives… why not grab a daily reminder to boast of Our King!
Never step foot on the wayward path…
[M]y son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths,
Proverbs 1:15
Be aware of who you travel through life with. Be on guard that you don’t even step foot on their path. If the step moving you is not leading you Heavenward, then it’s leading you away from God no matter what or who led you away.
The choice is yours to make. Which path will you choose?
