Omniscient-1 trait that will better your life ASAP (Psalm 89-95)

Omniscient-1 trait that will better your life ASAP (Psalm 89-95)

Have you ever wondered why God is not responding to the evils of this earth? Sometimes, it can seem rather discouraging that He is not actively ridding the world of truly evil people. Reminding yourself of this one trait can really transform your entire outlook on life: that God is omniscient.

Some of those who grow up in the church are familiar with church speak but may not have thoroughly broken down the definitions of certain terms. Others may be newer to the faith and are learning theology. We all are in different stages in our walks, so it helps to start from a place of recognized fact and agreement.

1 of 3…

There are three traits that sum up God (if you could even sum up God)…. In simple terms, they represent the following attributes:

  1. Omniscient – All-knowing
  2. Omnipotent – All-powerful
  3. Omnipresent – All places

These represent who God is and are a helpful reminder for us as we travel through life. God is all-knowing, He knows EVERYTHING. God is all-powerful, He can do EVERYTHING. God is all places, He is EVERYWHERE.

What does that mean for us?

It means we can take comfort that the God we serve trumps all. Not one thing or person can even slightly compare to ALL that God is.

Think of how insignificant any earthly god is compared to the glory of One who holds these traits?!

Bringing it a little more personal, think how foolish we can be when we allow the things of this world to trump our relationship with God.

Omniscient

adjective: having complete or unlimited knowledge, awareness, or understanding; perceiving all things.

noun: an omniscient being; the Omniscient, God

Dictionary.com

That is the God we serve!

How comforting it should be for us that nothing surpasses Him!

Trials…

As Christians, we will travel through seasons of peace and seasons of trials. While the trials may be unwanted, they should certainly not be unexpected. Share on X
Omniscient-1 trait that will better your life ASAP (Psalm 89-95)

As Christians, we will travel through seasons of peace and seasons of trials. While the trials may be unwanted, they should certainly not be unexpected. We are told to carry our cross because a Christian life is like a battle. There are trials and sicknesses to grow us stronger and more reliant on God, there are opposers that will attack us, and there are unexplained situations out of our control that can just break us.

O Lord, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth! Rise up, O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve! O Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult? They pour out their arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. They crush your people, O Lord, and afflict your heritage. They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless; and they say, “The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob does not perceive.”

Psalm 94:1-7

Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers? If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Can wicked rulers be allied with you, those who frame injustice by statute? They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

Psalm 94:16-21

Do you turn to the Omniscient one?

Who exactly is the God we turn to in times of trials, sicknesses, and despair? The omniscient ruler of all! Look at how the Psalmists display God’s knowledge!

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. You return man to dust and say, “Return, O children of man! You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Psalm 90:2-3,8,12

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty!

Psalm 93:3-4

Consider the vastness of His knowledge…

Take some time to ponder the depth of these verses.

He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see? He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke? He who teaches man knowledge—the Lord—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath.

Psalm 94:9-11

Have you ever studied the eye, how intricately it was designed? It is an amazing piece of our bodies, and God designed it! He is also the designer and creator of everything on this earth. He is omniscient! It is truly astounding to consider that God, who cares that we are in right relationship with Him, is THAT powerful!

Discipline…

Something we all need to keep in mind is that sometimes bad things happen to us for our ultimate good. If our eyes are constantly focused on an eternal future, it makes it much easier to remind yourself in trials that sometimes it is discipline we are receiving to right our wrongs.

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.

Psalm 90:14-15

Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law, to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage; for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

Psalm 94:12-15

Living in the world…

The language the Psalmists use gives us guidance for how we are to view God while we are in the world. Ultimately, a sense of his omniscient power with a side of eternal focus will lead us in the right direction. Share on X

The language the Psalmists use gives us guidance for how we are to view God while we are in the world. Ultimately, a sense of his omniscient power with a side of eternal focus will lead us in the right direction.

Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face, who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted. For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.

Psalm 89:15-17

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Psalm 90:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2

Re-read all of Psalm 91 for a true picture of how to view God, especially when in the midst of anxiety or strife!

Change your life…

As with much in life, the choice is yours. Will you choose to see God as an omniscient God or will you let your fears reign unchallenged? Are you choosing to remind yourself of His omniscient power or will you allow the world to seep so far into your heart that you squeeze Him into a corner? Will you fear man or fear the omniscient Creator of everyone and everything?

The Bible is a transforming work… it is meant to change your life!

You can start by identifying who God is in your life today and who He ought to be. Then make active progress toward it NOW. Do not delay as we do not know the time we have left.

Omniscient. Omnipotent. Omnipresent.

Let’s serve Him as He ought to be served and live our lives as they ought to be lived!
