The album from Kanye West, Jesus is King, has invaded households through music, conversations, and doubts.
To Kanye West:
Welcome to Christianity! I hope you have felt encouraged by believers to hold steady and firm in your faith! The love of the Lord can do miraculous wonders in our lives and redeem us fully to receive salvation… these are truly the greatest gifts that as you know, money can’t buy.
Different media sources attempt to cripple you through promotion of the dissension and discouragement of skeptical Christians. The world wants you to fail. Those in it want you to revert back to how you once were. But take heart, because one who came before you laid out a guideline for those in the public eye who turn their lives around through repentance and faith in God.
In Acts, we read how Paul’s life was incomprehensibly transformed. Since he had persecuted the Christians they were understandably skeptical. Similar to your current position, there are Christians who are doubtful now that you have truly repented and turned your life around. But hold steady, bolt yourself to your steeled convictions as you take the time to show over time that your faith is genuine.
The believers in Acts thought he was deceiving them in order to capture them as prisoners. Reading further into Acts 9, we read how God guided him to prove his authenticity.
Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.
Acts 9:22
Sadly, his very life was being threatened by the Jews and the disciples were afraid of him. Easily, he could have chosen to give up from the pressure or back out quietly.
However, the Holy Spirit had filled him up. He knew he had a calling to share the Gospel and he did not let anyone sway him. As can be seen, God sent people to him in timely ways. We see how Ananias was used as an instrument to reassure him and we see how Barnabas was used to defend him to the disciples.
Reading the Bible, you’ll find it will encourage you to pray for:
- those types of men to envelop you on this journey,
- the Holy Spirit to create a constant and steadfast spirit in you,
- a continually repentant heart,
- wisdom in your studies,
- what to say and how to say it, and
- strength and courage.
Unfortunately, no one can say that this will be easy for you, but know that it is worth it! Kanye West, Jesus is King and you know it, how exciting!
