When sorrow threatens to overtake you…
We felt we were spinning around in chaos trying to combat the attacks that just kept coming at us, one thing after another. Our sorrow was immense. At times, we dealt with threats to our:
- marriage,
- family,
- security,
- very lives,
- safety,
- emotional well-being, and
- more.
Under the circumstances, we felt attacks being hurled at us from all sides.
However, we decided to start looking up. Slowly, it unfolded before us that our eyes needed to constantly focus on Christ and give glory to Him through every situation.
There was one song that spoke to me in the midst of our sorrow, yet helped me maintain a steady position of security and peace. This song became my prayer when my tears were so heavy I couldn’t even open my mouth to speak.

Share on XSometimes, just reading through hymns brought about a reassurance and calmness that was much needed, so I want to share the words. {However, if you wish to listen, this version and this one were my favorites. I have a list of influential songs that I clung to during the last couple of years when deep sorrow filled our hearts.} Sadly, I know I default to singing without focusing on the meaning at times so I encourage you to try to really read the words for what they are.

I love that hymn! I really enjoyed just reading the words – brings me to tears every time I hear the song.
Be Still My Soul is another favorite I default to.
“Leave to thy God to order and provide” hits me square in the heart.
